Who We Are

The African Policy and Research Consortium (APRC) is a collaborative initiative dedicated to advancing Africa’s development agenda through research, innovation, and partnership. Anchored in the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the World Bank’s Africa Strategy, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), APRC drives the Africa Think Tank Platform (ATTP) Project—a five-year, US$50 million initiative designed to transform the capacity and influence of think tanks across the continent.

We work with networks of think tanks, policymakers, and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) to address Africa’s most pressing cross-border challenges. Our work is centered on six thematic priorities:

• Climate Change and Resilience
• Regional Trade and Integration
• Food Security and Agricultural Innovation
• Human Capital Development
• Digitalization and Technology for Development

Through three core components—institutional capacity building, research quality and uptake, and long-term sustainability—APRC seeks to create a vibrant, gender-responsive ecosystem that links research to policy, fosters innovation, and strengthens Africa’s voice in global conversations.

What We Aim to Achieve

• A fully operational Africa Think Tank Platform Secretariat with effective governance, coordination, and monitoring systems.
• A dynamic network that connects think tanks, policymakers, and RECs to foster policy dialogue and joint research.
• High-quality, evidence-based research outputs that drive decisions on Africa’s priority issues.
• An Africa Knowledge Repository serving as a public good with data, research, and policy tools.
• Stronger research-policy linkages through fellowships, secondments, and knowledge exchange events.
• A sustainable continental hub that mobilizes resources, amplifies Africa’s global influence, and delivers public goods.
